Dr. Russ Gilliom is a native of Indiana. He was raised in central Indiana and now lives in Churbusco (NE Indiana) with his wife, Lois. He has been married 33 years. Russ and Lois have two married, adult children with four grandchildren. Russ is a graduate of Butler University and the Indiana School of Dentistry.

Russ currently is the President of the 30th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, is on the Board of the Midwest Civil War Civilian Conference, and is a member of the U.S. Naval Landing Party (C.W. Naval Reenactor).

Russ has always had a love of our country's history and heritage, especially the 1860s era. He has given presentations at numerous schools, round tables, local historical museums, the Midwest Civil War Civilian Conference, Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne, and the Naval History Center in Newport News, Va.
